Hi,

My grandfather left behind a 4/4 size German violin Labeled "Arlo Tononi Bolognete, Fece in Venezia, 1729. The instrument is in good condition. Please let me know what you guys think.

Thank you

I think we need pictures of the details, scroll, F holes front and back. Labels can be faked because they are only paper, after all.

Especially if it is a German violin made in Venezia.

Likely a German copy of a great maker (Carlo Tononi) The label likely doesn't mean much. It could still be a great violin. As mentioned , pictures would help.

A better site to have your violin evaluated is The Pegbox. There are experienced luthiers and appraisers there. You will need pictures, but there's advice there on how to take and post useful pictures. Unfortunately you'll have a waiting period to post pictures after you join, but you can ask your question and the waiting period is not too long.

Monica is a spammer that for some reason hasn't been bounced yet.
