It's on Google Sites, I think he said. Not a big deal like paid-for web sites or writing up your own html code or something, but he's making his own and my own. Of course, mine is all about music, homemade, traditional, music for plain folks...that kinda thing. I'm not sure what-all is involved in Google Sites web sites...hopefully I can add stuff and not just keep it stagnant...I didn't feel like I got a straight answer from him on that...but I'm thinking they would surely allow a person to add to it. I once had a music blog, but it was such soliloquizing event that I got lonely doing it, plus couldn't ever find my own stupid blog when i wanted to...so I dropped the whole idea. We'll see if this is any better...lol. Just a chance to try to communicate with the outside world...like, you know, I'm sorta sittin' here in music-jail...lol.

I'm tellin' yuh, yer THAT CLOSE to the big-time!! So - where the link?

groundhogpeggy - Posted - 04/05/2021:  18:38:45

I don't know...lol...I'll have to figure that out at some point or other, I guess. I never knew how to get to my blog...so...hope this will be different.

Good for your, Peggy! I am looking forward to checking it out.

BTW I don't think many people write their own code these days, even web page designers.

groundhogpeggy - Posted - 04/06/2021:  04:56:20

I can sure understand why...lol...that's a big confusing mess, all that code that goes for pages and pages.

ChickenMan - Posted - 04/06/2021:  17:15:58

Nowadays it's all pre-written and it is a sort of cut and paste situation.

I'm so happy for you groundhogpeggy! Yes, websites have gotten very user friendly now. Ask your grandson to teach you how to update your own material. This is not hard, but there are likely to be a few new things to learn. You won't want to have to call your grandson for every minor tweak though. Test it out on a couple of different browsers when you've got it to a point of completion, so that you know how it will look whether people are using Chrome, Safari, or whatever. Congratulations!

I did my website and the original RSB (Rocket Science Banjo) sites and still maintain them (sorta, when I get a wild hair - (grin)).

From scratch, using HTML, later incorporating CSS stuff into it, which just made for messy code; but, then, I have always been pretty much of a "spaghetti coder" kind of guy from my first days with BASIC.

By the way, I'm working on putting up the "Tabonanza" from the RSB site for download; it used to be a perk for people who donated to Old Woodchuck, if your interested in CH Banjo, keep an eye out for the update. I will post info on BH and FH when it's up.

Sounds cool, Fred. I remember that "Old Woodchuck," (no relation) who used to do Rocket Science Banjo...is he still around?

Well, but anyway, this Google Site thing really seems more like a blog to me than and actual web site...plus it's free...I don't think you can get fancy with it or put a lot of stuff on there. Just kinda fun to feel "published," lol. Probably much smarter to remain anonymous, but...you know...more fun to feel published, in one way or the other.

Peggy -
I've looked as best I could for Tony after some discussion on BHO about people not getting responses and a lack of posts by him. Tried on-line searches, contacting his wife via FB, asking the gentleman who posted videos of some of Tony's teach-tunes, and a "find people" app, all with no response.

We assume that he has died, so I've taken over the RSB and am providing free downloads of all of his teaching materials that he has made available.

Oh gosh...it's easy to lose contact with online friends and never know what happened to them. It's great that you've been able to carry on his banjo mission, anyway.

Yeah at this day and age there are so many free Content Management Systems out there that you should have to get into the code at all (unless you want to). Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla, etc. are a couple of content management systems you could look at. There are also services out there I think that are free that allow you to blog without having to maintain software, software upgrade, etc.

sites.google.com/view/folkmusicfun/homeHere is the link. We'll be adding more stuff in the future. Ronin was busy, so we didn't get much on there yet.

The link doesn't seem to work :(

DougD - Posted - 04/11/2021:  17:53:35

The lnk works for me. Very good job, and it gets your point across very well. Congratulations!

groundhogpeggy - Posted - 04/11/2021:  18:43:48

Hoodoo...sorry the link isn't working for you...not sure what went wrong. Doug, glad the link IS working for you. Thanks for checking it out. Seems I always have too much to say when I shouldn't be talking, yet, then whenever I get a real opportunity to say something, I can't think of what I wanna say, or what I wanna play...lol...so...hopefully ideas will come to me as time goes along and I quit trying too hard to think.

Hello Peggy,
Everything seems to be working fine from a Kindle Fire.
What a nice homey website you have started. We hope to see it grow.

Thanks, TimeT!

Wow it looks great! I'd like to suggest that your home banner should say something a little more descriptive than "Home"? Ideally this is where your main title about your primary theme would go. I would suggest sticking your own name right on the top too, so the purpose of what you're doing is perfectly clear. Name it & claim it!! Looks awesome!

DougD - Posted - 04/13/2021:  06:37:34

I think Peggy's main theme actually is "Home," although I see your point.

groundhogpeggy - Posted - 04/25/2021:  18:00:19

Thanks for the suggestions. Well the first big project on there failed...lol...grandson came over with his stuff and went out of his way to make a screenshot recording of the computer with me playing into the recording thing to just go through how I do my recordings...listened to it for the first time up on youtube right now...the tracks didn't sound...you could only hear the track I was working...so the whole thing was useless...I took it off of youtube and won't be able to use it on my website...and worse, I have to tell grandson it didn't really work out. He worked pretty hard on it today...
