Although, I'm by no means skilled at the fiddle, not even close, I feel as though I've come too far to turn around now. I've been looking for a while for a fiddle to replace my current VSO, a chinese made Menzel, that has nothing to do with this menzelviolins.com/instruments
do you guys think that this violin might be ok? I'm just looking for something that doesn't sound so "tin like" and maybe a bit more a richer sound.

I have no opinion on the two fiddles - that kind of thing is not my forte - but I would just mention that a decent luthier can do a lot to enhance the sound of a fiddle - it is amazing what a couple of judicious strokes with a file can do ... just a thought.

I wouldn’t like the way that open A string sounds out, as time went by I think it would be a terrible distraction for you. You maybe could dampen it though, or try a different brand string, but would be taking a chance. It sounds nice otherwise. (I kind of have a hang-up about A strings though)

Can you return the fiddle if it doesn't suit you?
If not, I'd pass. There are lots of places you can buy a fiddle from that will let you return it if it isn't what's described or if it doesn't suit you.

Sorry for the multiple posts. The website went on the blink as I was posting.
It wasn't my fault. The "Gremlin's" did it!

Gosh darn Gremlins! He says I can come and try it, no questions asked, which is probably what I'll do. Anyway, when he plays it, it sure sounds swell. He told me that he has his eye on a $2000 violin, but his wife won't let him buy it unless he culls the herd so to speak. We've all been there, haven't we?

I bought it and she's a beaut. I can't wait to get back home and start playing it.
