I knew that but don’t know anything about the school. Saw a video of them playing a regular version of Liberty. I want to learn how to take a tune and play it in a Texas style

It's kinda like the GIRL SCOUTS started a fiddle school. MOF there's probably cookies involved!

What is that supposed to mean, Richard?
Eddorci - Katie Glassman is certainly a really good fiddler (have you listened to her in the Western Flyers)? I think she's done a lot of teaching too. How well that translates to online lessons I wouldn't know - it might not suit your purpose or be advanced enough. Maybe you should just ask her.

Why not listen to Texas style players, if you already have the techniques then apply it to your tunes, if not, any good teaching will show you the fundamentals.

That’s what I do. Jam on fiddle tunes like the great Texas players but some instruction from someone like Katie would be cool. One of the great fiddlers of this style lived in Montana but not much in that style now.

What do you mean when you say "Texas style"? I'm asking because there is more than one style of fiddling associated with that term.

Benny Thomason, Dick Barret, Mark O’Conner

Mark O'Connor himself put out a lot of instructional stuff. youtube.com/watch?v=4FF5hGgLack Also, Stacy Phillips put out a book (through Mel Bay, I think) where he transcribed O'Connor's playing.

Megan Lynch Chowning, @fiddlestar on Instagram has a Texas style Tuesdays, and a Texas technique Thursdays series of videos that you could check out.

Kate is certainly "advanced enough" to give most fiddlers anywhere great help!!!!

You could learn these and the theory behind them.

I meant to type "Katie", not "Kate" of course, sorry about that!

Pete Martin has done excellent transcriptions of Benny Thomasson.

His website is listed in another thread here.

Also Mark O'Connor's "Mark O'Connor: The Championship Years" book and CD.
