The Violin Beautiful - Posted - 06/21/2020: 14:06:11
This is an intriguing old German violin, labeled Domenicus Montagnana. It was repaired in Indiana in the 1920s, then by Richard Maxham in 2012. All repairs are solid and the condition is very good.
It was used by old time fiddlers in central Virginia most of its life, although it performs well for any type of playing. It has plenty of character, with quick and easy response and a lot of power.
This is a great violin for an advancing player. It’ll hold its own in a jam (it’s seen quite a lot of them throughout its life) and it has a rich and pleasant tone that makes it good for solo playing as well.
