If you play the tune whiteface, or something similar, I'm curious how you bow the triplet near the beginning; do you 'saw' quickly using just your fingers, or slur, or add speed or pressure to emphasize the difference? Do you use any particular bowing pattern(s) throughout? Also: TIL: It's named after a cow, not a snow capped mountain like I've thought this whole time :)
Thanks!

Generally, i tend to use Bowed triplets in my "Oirish" playing and slurs in my "Mercan" playing. But i like to mix em up dependant upon whether i have veered off my intended bowing strategy. BTW i learned "Whiteface" , but i dont recall any triplets that are integral to the melody? i play bowed triplets, cuts and rolls in a weird way anyways. (D,U,U).... Sort of a couple of up bowed spiccato notes, after an initial down bow to get things bouncing.

I just view it as about what sound you want to achieve.
Sawing quickly... as a bowed triplet? Different sound than slurred. Which way fits how you want it to sound?

I could find no dots but I play it by ear with no triplets at all.
You might take a look at the Richard Van Patten tab on this site ,in the tab library under White Face, for some ideas.

Or you could just listen to Joe Thrift, who composed fhe tune, play it here: youtu.be/whqCepL6IlI
I don't hear any triplets, bowed or otherwise, and I assume Joe knows how it goes.
