Today the weather was nice so I stayed and busked for THREE hours at the local Farmer's Market. Afterwards, I was wiped out and didn't want to Touch my fiddle for the rest of today.
However, if I'm in a good jam I can play for three hours and NOT be wiped out.. At a Festival, I can 'virtually' jam all day and not be wiped out.. So.. What gives?
Do you have these inconsistencies in your fiddling?

Of which of those do you stand?

Often I stand while busking.. good observation, but lately I've been taking a stool.. Standing DOES shorten my endurance, no doubt.

Making music with others is energizing, and good for the soul.

Endurance to me is playing for a square dance, where the fourth couple deserves the same intensity of music as the first couple.

If you play a dance you get energy from the dancers. You play in a good jam you get energy from the other musicians. Not so in a bad jam. Playing for a farmers market can feel like work. If you can, sit down. We used to sell at a farmers market and played between customers. We were usually sold out by ten.
