Getting old. In an attempt to stop my right hand fingers from seizing up I recently bought a clarinet. All instruments have their particular difficulties, not least ,with the clarinet, the impossibility of getting a clean note ( particularly when the teeth are in the a glass.) Hardest of all, for me, being used to fiddle and guitar, is to get my head around the fact that as you go " up the neck" the notes get lower in pitch. (Forget transposing etc. etc,)………….but an interesting wee project.

I play some flute and whistle. A fun distraction from fiddling.

I play clarinet without resting my teeth on the mouthpiece. It's a different type embouchure. I'm expecting to have false teeth sometime in the future and hope my teethless embouchure will help keep me playing.
