I use a Viva La Musica rest that I like. Kun wasn't bad but I prefer this. I also really like a little cheap artino rest that I acquired some how.

I use Kun on some of my fiddles, really like the Bon Musica but it is quite large, but my all around favorite is Wolf Secundo Forte rest. Second would be the Bon Musica. It is a very stable rest.

@PrairieFiddler: I use Viva rests on all 3 of my fiddles, but they don't say 'La Musica' anywhere on the the rest and I don't have the box's any more. I wonder if they are the same? The clamps on mine swivel side to side, if that makes any sense. I like them much better than Kun, as I get more height out of them, and they don't have an 'iron grip' which lets more sound thru.

I've tried bon musica, but I don't like the effect they have on the sound.

I'd say they're the same "design" (i.e. Same shape and mechanics), with the one I use having the fancy wood stuff. Not sure if the point of the wood though...when it's facing in a direction that no one can really see.

It's the principle of the thing.

I used a Bon Musica for awhile - but the look of wearing a pre-War prosthetic device really put me off, so I weaned myself back off it. I'm back to the Kun. I've made various adjustments to the way I position and hold both fiddle and bow - an ongoing endeavour - and I've got everything the way I want it. For the time being ... !
