I am still trying out bows. I am settling on this 57 gram stiff stick by Guy Laurent. Can you notice how I can slow the tempo, soften the volume and still maintain a decent tone? This bow feels like a tooth pick. I can only image what a professional bow costing $3-4K would be like.

Sounds great!
Where did you get the bow?
What is it made of?
New or old?

Graham,

I am in the process of evaluating three bows from Shar Music. Here is a link to the bow I am using on this recording.

Chuck,
Thanks for the link.
Are you familiar with Dorfler bows from Germany? I am considering a new bow and one of this line is interesting.

I had someone caution me about German bows in this price range. They suspect some are being sourced from China and labeled in Germany. Please don't shoot the messeger, but $700 is not an expensive bow.

Hey Chuck:

Just out of curiosity, can you tell us what the other two bows are that you are currently evaluating?

Alcuni giorni lei e l''idrante.......

Lou,

These are the other two. However, I am sending them back. If I am going to spend this much, it has to be better than my best bow. The bow I like best was the three star, but it lost its curve when tightening just a little.
