Anybody used/played this instrument?

Looks like a fun traveling instrument.

Well, I've played one. A local instrument show (Folk Shop) has them. But because I already have multiple traveling instruments, my heart wasn't in it.

Well .... If I backpacked I would understand a "traveling instrument". When I travel my instruments are put into my Calton cases and travel wherever I am going. I always want to play what I play not something else. R/

For 385 dollars, I'd think you could get an actual violin to travel with. I'm not sure I'd be satisfied with the fixed position/height of the 'shoulder rest'.

I have a lot of experience with travel fiddles. I had been thinking about posting something on that topic, but didn't want to hijack your thread. I opened a new, related topic here: fiddlehangout.com/topic/45709
Small, portable fiddles have their own purpose. Sometimes I travel with normal fiddles, but for many trips (e.g., business trips), I prefer other instruments.
Again, I did play a Cricket. Because it has a chin/shoulder rest it is going to be more stable than the Lark in the Morning Kit Fiddle or wipLstix, for example. You can probably go up to third position.
On the Fluke website there is a nice video of someone playing the instrument on a cruising sailboat on the Sea of Cortez magicfluke.com/The-Cricket-Vio...icket.htm. The sound is pretty good for a pocket fiddle. Here is a direct link to the video: youtube.com/watch?v=xNK3bVUzu5M
I was definitely intrigued by the instrument. But because I already have several traveling instruments I couldn't get excited about another one. Now I'm thinking I need to stop by the Folk Shop again and play it some more.

I bought one and use it often. It plays good, sounds okay. I ditched the case it came with and bought a 5" document tube from Office Max. The doc tube holds the disassembled cricket, bow and a cloth sack with tuner, rosin and the chin/shoulder rest.
Thinking about getting the Fluke ukulele as well.
