So, who among us are upright players? I've been playing UB for about the same length of time I've been fiddling: about ten years. I sold my vint. Kay five years ago when I moved out of state, and just recently purchased an Ergo EUB. Love it. Here's where I go when I want to talk bass:

I've been playing UB for almost 2 years, that is the only fiddle I play.

I bought a beat up old Englehart and learned the basics, taught the wife{who was better than me} and then sold it when she refused to play out in public.

Play UB in a band called Stateline Bluegrass www.statelinebluegrass.com
I have played the bass for about 10 years. I am a banjo player and teach banjo at Janet Davis Music. I also play guitar. I have owned a fiddle for years but never have made a real attempt at learning it.
I love, love, love playing the bass because it allows me to sing...plus everybody knows the bass player drives the band;)

Since the bass really isn't a "Fiddle"/violin in the common sense, this topic brings me to this. will there be a forum for 5-string violins and violas? They have both become common place in the BG arena?
