bubbaschnell posted a couple more tunes,
Texas Gales and Fort Smith Breakdown.
He's a GOOD fiddler, this is album quality playing.
He doesn't toot his own horn here, so I'll reach over and toot it for him!

GOOD SCHTUFF!!!

And it also occurred to me that he sounds a lot like Matt Brown,
whose fiddling I also like very much.
And that is surprising since the material is from different regions.
I think it's something about the bowing and phrasing that's similar.

Thank you all for the kind words......that means a lot to me. My influences haven't changed much over the yrs: Ron Kane, Tom Sauber, Clyde Davenport, James Bryan, W.S./Earl/Max Collins, Mark Gunther, Chirps & Garry, Salyer, and Ward Jarvis. They're all there in the mix along w/ a ton of others via their tunes that I've had the pleasure to learn. Everyone ends up w/ their own voice, eventually, no matter how much we strive to imitate those we find pleasing to our ears. Call it what you want: esthetic, essence..........whatever? That's what's to be gained from spending time with the source material: whether it be in the form of field recordings, workshops, festivals, and visits. Old time music is such a gas, isn't it?*s*

Thanks again,

Bill

These postings are terrific! Apart from the obviously very fine fiddling, banjo and guitar playing, the tunes keep an easy, elegant pace. Lovely stuff.
