I recorded this on banjo many years ago because I couldn't get it to sound like I want it to on the fiddle. I still can't. Oh well, it makes a good banjo tune. I don't do much in the way of cross tuning on the fiddle, and I think you'd need something other than standard to get the haunting dissonance the tune needs. If anyone knows of a good fiddle recording of this tune, I'd love to hear it.

I'm fond of Casey Driessen's rendering of "Sally in the Garden." He kicks off his 2006 CD "3D" with it, starting off with a droning sruti box, a nice haunting touch IMO. The booklet calls it traditional, but so far I haven't found notation for it. He doesn't indicate what tuning he's using -- wish more fiddlers would do that on their CDs.

Thanks manualanimal, I'll check this out. Casey Driessen is seriously a player. BTW, what is a "sruti box"?
