In another thread, Tiquose mentioned the lack of a MacLeod's Reel in the jukebox. We played it last week at the dance class, and I had been recording with my cheap digital camera set-up. Turns out I didn't turn on the recorder for the MacLeod set. Having got that far along, though, I thought I'd post a jig set from that night. The dance was Mrs. Stewart's Jig. The tunes include Mrs. Stewart's Jig, Hundred Pipers, Happy Meeting, and the Sailor's Wife. You can hear the dancers dancing, clapping, and otherwise carrying-on -- and it was an alcohol-free night! The order of the tunes is fairly standard for Scottish Country Dance. 4 couples in the set, each couple dances twice, so 8 x 32 bars. The order of the tunes is 1, 2, 3, 4, 2, 3, 4, 1 -- we start and end with the title tune. It's fun, and I'd encourage any fiddlers out there interested in Scottish fiddle to look up their local Scottish Country Dance group. Playing for dancers is quite challenging and rewarding.
