Very nice fiddle sonnd. This is a fiddle not a VIOLIN, Bright, squeeky, loud fiddle sound. Not a lot of bottom [ this may be by string choice I havent had a reason to change to other strings] smooth playing. IT SOUNDS LIKE A FIDDLE, even when I play it. I had to get a attached mute so my wife wouldnt go crazy. |

Very nicely made strad copy. 2 piece flame maple back, light brown to red color the pre-war Japanese standard. It has some odd shapes in the style[ compared to a trad strat] but this is just a style factor in these japanese made things. |

It was reconditioned by B. Smakula. It seems very solid. I have seen others of this type used by jammers and teachers with great success. Always have a backup. |

It came with a new soft case and fiberglass bow. A new good bow would help. For fiddeling it should be ok as is. I added a mute to the strings after seeing my teacher with one. I was in pretty good shape for being 70 yrs old and going through WWII. |

Very nice Intermediate fiddle. I am a novice BUT I actually sound pretty good with this one. I have seen them on the net for about $200 less but the set up and customer service I think compensates for most of that. I will never be able to play it to its fullest but for bluegrass gigs and jams this works quite well. |

Stuent grade fiddle made in Germany imported by Roth. Sounds OK for a used student fiddle. Got it for my daughter's elementary school strings class. Practice FOR kid use only. It sounded better with the Red Label strings than the Dominants i replaced them with. Sometimes you can OVERDRESS and instrument. |

No setup. I took it to a local music shop [ C.A. House, St. Clairsville,OH] they did a nice job. New bridge and replaced the 2 piece tuners [that cant be replaced with reg. tuner pegs]. I've replaced all 4 of them and then replaced more. |

Looks good. Thermoplastic case and cheap fiberglass bow. Nice looking wood, a few nicks but for kids very firm and solid [ ex. for the tuners] Nice finish. Spruce top, maple back and sides. |

Good solid -but the tuners have left me down twice. Once I took it to a weekend bluegrass camp and the tuners broke in 3 days. I had to juryrig them to finish. Reg. pegs wont fit. I replaced them all and had to replace 2 more. If I was using it out a lot I would keep a few new ones [ not cheap] in the case for this. |

Tuners are JUNK, replacing them with others would require plugging the old holes and drilling smaller ones [ on a flea market fiddle- WHY???] Other than that VERY SOLID. you could let kids use it. drop it. rought handling, etc. |

If you can keep the tuners working YES. Price for mine [ in VG condition] is about the same as the NET price or e-bay. so its still worth what I paid for it. For a elementary student, its an OK fiddle. By high school they would need a new/better one. I used it to learn on for 2 yrs then got a better one. |
