I think I'd be in trouble if I brought home another FUBAR violin. 
In addition to creative ideas about bridge placement, the seller has a rather broad view of what constitutes "normal ageing and wear".   Like if you call it a fiddle, you can expect it to be involved in the occasional fist fight....(?)

A couple of years ago I tried to buy the Ugliest fiddle that I could fine.. (see my photos..) However, I see now that this particular fiddle may TOP my ugly fiddle.... I wonder how it sounds.. One can never tell.. Obviously, someone played it a LOT and loved it....

If you play it with the bridge upside down, would it put the sound back INTO the fiddle? I'm impressed he was able to string it that way.

Silly.  Yes, of course the sound would go back into the fiddle if the bridge is upside down.. Melvin Wine once told someone in my presence that his Second fiddle, usually in his twin fiddle case, was just Learning the tunes.. I hadn't noticed if the bridge on his second fiddle was upside down or not.. I think I'll string up my ugly fiddle,  "ugly Betty",  with a bridge like the one shown and see how she sounds.. We may be onto something..I'll get back...
