Does anyone here use a keyboard as "backup players"?  I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on what to buy?  MY next best thing to playing in a band. :)

I'm currently considering a Yamaha mm6 with midi and usb.  Anyone have this board?

Thanks,

Justine

Are you wanting to record yourself comping along to a chord progression or do you want a machine with built-in back-up tracks/samples? For canned rhythm i use a Kawai mm30 (?) sort of a toy, but it serves the purpose. i've also a Yamaha DP95 digital piano. It's got midi i/o but i use it just as a piano. Seems to me, up in the Maritimes they comp with piano quite a bit.

Thanks for the info Wooliver. I was hoping to get something that has the ability to record myself along with a track, to just play along with, and be midi capable. I really was just wanting something to noodle around with.., thought it would be fun and help me learn to play along with other "instruments" in the background. Has anyone here ever used any of the Yamaha keyboards or synthesizers?
