Hello all. I unfortunately missed the opportunity back in the day when the book "Dear Old Illinois" was still available. Does anyone know if there are any copies anywhere to be found? I am saddened that this book is out of production. I have family from Southern Illinois and was wanting to learn more of the music from this region.

At the the Mt. Carrol Fiddle Camp over Labor Day weekend, Garry Harrison will be leading several workshops entitled "Fiddle Tunes from Illinois." Chirps Smith will be there also, and between the two of them, there will be a whole lot of Illinois tunes to record and learn. I can't speak for Garry, but he might also be able to help you put your hands on a copy of Dear Old Illinois.
I'm signed up, and can't wait. Super staffing line-up.....

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I wont be able to make it this year. Definitely something to consider in the future for me. No one else knows of any copies of the book lying around, do they? |

If there are particular tunes you'd like to see the music notation for, I'd be happy to copy them for you. I could also reproduce the discs that came with the book. Email me if interested.
