Just got my copy of Tricia Spencer's new Fiddlin' Like There's No Tomorrow CD in the mail and while I'm in no position to provide an informed or scholarly review I can tell you what I think. And what I think is--I like it a lot.
First track: ADAD. Second track: FCFC. Third track: AEAE. And so forth. A woman after my own heart. : )
If you haven't seen it, you can hear snippets at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/triciaspencer

I don't have a copy yet, but I will. Trica (bellawaltz here) is a fine musician.

Thanks for the heads-up, Cyndy. There's a generous selection of listening tracks at her website: http://triciaspencer.com/music/
She had me at Quail is a Pretty Bird...

Quail is a Pretty Bird...
You should be able to find her playing that in the contest at Clifftop, 2010 on YouTube.
Lovely person, great family, seriously dedicated and talented musician!

I sprung for the cdBaby download yesterday, and, again, I regret my decision to do the digital thing.
Don't get me wrong, the music is great, but there is much lacking in the way of liner notes (for instance, nothing on the tunings for each tune, nor information about the tunes). If anybody with the actual CD wanted to be nice and send me a pdf of the insert, I'd be overjoyed.

I just got a copy this weekend, and I have to say, this is one excellent CD. I've listened to a lot of fiddle music, OT and otherwise, and this ranks right up there with the best I've heard. Tricia's from Missouri style roots, but has incorporated a lot of interesting Appalachian bow work into her music. I like her singing, too, and she's got a fine group of supporting musicians.
I can't find anything not to like on this album. I think it puts Tricia firmly up there with the leading lights of the OT world.
Some of the best parts got left off the samples on the CD page on her web site. Buy the CD, and you're in for some great surprises.
