I need serious help fellow musicians. Does anyone know what songs go well in a set with Drowsy Maggie? Please if you can give me suggestions..they have to be traditional Irish though.

If you can help me I will be extremely grateful!!! You will aid me with succeeding in my exams!

Thanks in advance.

Shifting from jig rhythm into reel rhythm but keeping the same key is quite effective. We used to use "Scatter the Mud" into "Drowsie Maggie" to great effect.

From "The Session"
http://www.thesession.org/index.php...=The+Session

•The Session: Tunes - The Morning Dew (reel)
Drowsy maggie. this one works well with drowsy maggie, in the E dorian ... I've just found this tune probably derives from Sleepy Maggie ...

•The Session: Tunes - The Reel With The Burl (reel)
Another west coast version of "Drowsy Maggie". The Chieftains play this version as the second tune with "The Wind That Shakes the Barley" ...

My favorite in Key of D reel set:
DROWSEY MAGGIE/COOLEY'S/ WISE MAID

This set is from Brad Cranitch's "Ceolta Seisiuin na hEirreann" The Blue Book of Irish Session Tunes

At our sessions we play as a set 1. Swallowtail Jig 2. Morrisons 3. Drowsy Maggie . All are in Em and flow well together. That dark Em sound really makes this set fun to play and always seems to be appreciated by audiences.
