More About Me

I am a professional multi-instrumentalist and teacher based in Chicago, specializing in fiddle, viola, guitar, 5 string banjo, tenor banjo and mandolin.

My lessons aim to produce a well rounded musician regardless of the student's primary instrument or musical style. Rather than simply learn tunes, my students expect to:
-Learn the technical aspects of their instrument and become proficient players.

-Understand the common methods of notating music for their particular instrument, including Standard Notation, Tablature and Lead Sheets, as well as learning by ear.

-Gain the "from the ground up" understanding of basic music theory and song structure that is necessary to improvise in jazz, blues or rock; play variations in traditional music such as old time, bluegrass, or Irish; or write their own music.

-Develop the solid rhythmic sense necessary to play with other musicians through playing a lot of duets (aka "jamming") with a variety of other instruments.

Lessons are available at my studio in Ukranian Village. I have limited openings at the Music Loft in Romeoville, IL.
