More About Me
I am a professional multi-instrumentalist and teacher based in Chicago, specializing in fiddle, viola, guitar, 5 string banjo, tenor banjo and mandolin.
My lessons aim to produce a well rounded musician regardless of the student's primary instrument or musical style. Rather than simply learn tunes, my students expect to: -Learn the technical aspects of their instrument and become proficient players.
-Understand the common methods of notating music for their particular instrument, including Standard Notation, Tablature and Lead Sheets, as well as learning by ear.
-Gain the "from the ground up" understanding of basic music theory and song structure that is necessary to improvise in jazz, blues or rock; play variations in traditional music such as old time, bluegrass, or Irish; or write their own music.
-Develop the solid rhythmic sense necessary to play with other musicians through playing a lot of duets (aka "jamming") with a variety of other instruments.
Lessons are available at my studio in Ukranian Village. I have limited openings at the Music Loft in Romeoville, IL. Lessons are also available at student's home or place of work. Ask about my "Starving Artist" discount for lessons before 2pm.
