Its a great player and perfect for finger or flat picking. Beautiful bass! Comes with a 2 year old vintage style tweed hard shell archtop case. A few cracks and dings. When I bought this guitar in 1972 it developed a crack (see pics) right above the pick guard which I had professionally repaired then and which has held up fine since then .. there's another 4" crack on the top lower bout which has not been repaired. Additionally, there's a 4 3/4" crack on the back lower bout. .. (these cracks do not create any buzzing, etc). Both of these repairs are very *straight-forward* for a good luthier and actually I have played the guitar for years in this condition with no problems. The estimate I received from a local luthier to repair these cracks is $100. It consists of: Daedalus C-81 Cab Daedalus 4 space rack Rane ap 13 lexicon mx200 furman power conditioner halfer p1500 power amp I wanted to post here on the hangout because i also have a pretty specialized pickup/mic system i've been using. Basically i had an audio technica ATM-350 mic wired into my input jack with a schatten pickup under the bridge and ran these both into the rane, which if you're familiar with the ap 13, they allow blending and eq of a mic and pickup. So! I'd love to see this whole she-bang including the pickup and mic go to another player! It would make the most sense considering the customization i've done. I'm not doing much traveling by land these days and can't fly with this gear so have decided to part ways. I put these pieces together myself over quite a bit of time and they are all immaculate and road tested! This model features a solid carved spruce top, carved mapel back and sides, rosewood fingerboard, dovetail neck joint, adjustable truss rod, nitro-cellulose lacquer finish, and bone nut.(NO laminates!) The top is finished in black and the neck, back, and sides are finished in a dark burgundy (looks almost black in the pics). Body and neck are bound. Also included will be a nicely lined and padded Superior gig bag, custom strap (made by a local gal here in ABQ who sells to a couple of little music shops), and Ill throw in a mandolin chord dictionary to boot! There is a Shubb Capo installed. Earl Scruggs Tuners, Earl Scruggs Truss Rod Cover and TKL case. All original parts except Presto Tailpiece which Gibson began using in the 80's. Age and origin was determined by Gruhn's from pictures they were sent. There is a repaired crack in the top but otherwise a sound instrument with great tone. The instrument is located in Atlantic Canada. The body measures 15 & 1/4 inches. The length of the strings from nut to current bridge position is 14 & 7/16 inches. This has the same varnish finish used for Gibson’s Master Model and the Distressed Model. The hand rubbed coats of varnish are based upon the finish used in 1925 for the Loar F-5 mandolins. It’s got beautiful color, strong rich tone, and perfect action and setup. I took the pickguard off, but it’s in the case and you can put it back on if you prefer. I see that the lowest price for one of these new is about $10K on the web. This one isn’t new, but it is in mint condition with only one tiny ding and a very minor scratch. And it’s been played just enough to produce just the right hard-edged but mellow tone and great chop. Peels bark, as they say :-) This has a TKL rectangular case with burgundy interior and blanket. While you can play a variety of styles just fine on this mandolin, I recommend bluegrass! For sale (not trade) at $6900 plus shipping.
