ABOUT THIS VIOLIN

Choices for violins, choices....choices.. Ask me. I played all of the models we offer. This model shown (VI44-TY) is a very nice all-around violin. It is every bit as beautiful as our BC Electric Violin, It has a beautiful sound and is well made. You are going to love this violin case too. The sound that this violin offers is exceptional.

The #3NT IS Very similar to the Tiger Maple #4NT. The differences are the the type of tuning pegs, chin rest, tail piece, and instrument case.

If you want a really nice sounding violin, then give this one a thumbs-up and go for it!

The Tiger Maple Violin looks great and is a violin that is very pleasing. Not only ideal for violin students, but also a great choice for bluegrass fiddlers and experienced violinists.

This violin is a good choice for intermediate and advanced fiddlers, orchestra, ensemble groups, and for violin soloists.

As a musician of many years, I would not hesitate to bring this instrument to any ensemble group. I have played this #3NT in various ensemble groups and fellow musicians were impressed by its overall sound, tonal qualities, features, and playability.

If you are seeking a higher end fiddle, see our model VIAP, or the next level up is the First Chair. If you are seeking a really high-end instrument, see our Master Ensemble model.

ABOUT THIS VIOLIN

Choices for violins, choices....choices.. Ask me. I played all of the models we offer. This model shown (VI4400) is a very unique violin. Use it with headphones to practice in privacy, or plug it into an amp and turn up the volume.

Need an amplifier? See our other items.

The s-shape solid body violins have some great features and results.
I have tried them with headphones, they are pretty nice instruments. The tone controls allow you to vary the way it sounds, from soft to shrill, or anywhere in between. The best part about the SILENT Electric Violin is that you can put on the headphones, practice in the home, and unlike a standard acoustic violin, people outside your room won't hear the violin.

Benefits: You get your practice time in the privacy of your own space, and you can practice without disturbing others nearby.

ABOUT THIS VIOLIN
The Master Ensemble violin is an outstanding choice for advanced fiddlers, orchestra and ensemble groups, and it is the best choice for violin soloists. This violin plays exceptionally well, offering nice bright tones and the acoustics are impressive from low range through the high range. Excellent action on the fingerboard. On my personal evaluation, this is one outstanding instrument, giving rich tonal qualities with depth and bravado. It projects sound so well, that you might find a need to back off and lighten up on the bowing just a bit. As compared with our First Chair model, the Master Ensemble model is for advanced violinists. Our Apprentice Ensemble and the First Chair violin are very well-suited to the intermediate and advanced violinists. As a musician of many years, I would not hesitate to bring this instrument to any ensemble group. I have played this Master Ensemble it my two ensemble groups and members of both groups were impressed and it was very well received by the other musicians.

For Sale: higher quality handmade Chinese violin(s) - $300.00

I've purchased a few violins from various eBay sellers based in China, and after setting them up (adjust and refit soundpost, bridge, string height at nut, replace strings, adjust tail-gut length, etc.), most of them sound pretty good to great, and look nice as well. I'll post the picture of some that I have for sale now, but I have others as well. Some of the photos are from my eBay sources and show the fiddle prior to my set-up so the bridge and strings, etc. do not show the after adjustment appearance (but the photos were nice and clear so I figured I use them for now, at least). If you are in the Portland, Oregon area, make arrangements to come by and try one out. These instruments come with a case and decent brazilwood bow, though I also have some carbon fiber bows available. The prices start at around $300, and go up from there to around $800.

For Sale: Old German Sebastian Gohz Violin - $250.00

This is a very easy-to-play, full-sized, and resonant, full-sounding German violin made in the Amati style with the Sebastian Gohz label. My local luthier estimates it was hand-crafted in the 1930s . It is in very good, solid structural condition for its 75-80 years. It has a bass-side crack below the f-hole that was repaired professionally long ago and is very solid. The scroll also had been repaired long ago and, while the work is visible, it, too, seems sound.
This is the same brand and vintage of the instrument that is played feverishly by the hot young fiddler, Nicky Sanders, of the popular bluegrass band, The Steep Canyon Rangers. The bridge and soundpost are set up for warm, resonant fiddle style playing. It has strong volume - to reach the back of the hall - a deep lower register, and excellent harmonic overtones on all strings. The action is comfortably low, and the tone is full and clear.
It comes in an equally old, beat, but funky and functional pod-like case (pictured), which is missing its handle (easily replaced), but has latches that work well. It also comes with a nice, straight Glasser bow, too. Thanks for looking.

Here is a very nice handmade Chinese violin labeled "Melody Tunes - Made by Weiming Li 2003 in China". The violin is all solid woods and has a nicely flamed one piece maple back. It is fitted with solid ebony fittings with Parisian eyes. It is setup for easy playability with D'Addario Zyex strings. The tone is pleasant with great volume. Please find additional photos at he following URL:

Fantastic professional instruments for sale

I have a really nice Hungarian violin for sale made by Lajos Konya master maker from Tatabanya.
It is from 2002 and has been exclusively played by me and used on several recordings and a lot of gigs
It is valued at about 5500,- dollars but if one of you fiddlers would buy it I would go as low as 3300

The other instrument is an old German viola - quite small 378mm and well suited for a fiddler - professionally set up.
This instrument I bought for 2500,- dollars but would sell for 1500,- dollars

The pics can be seen in my profile under for sale are not best I know, but I will try to make some better ones and send them if anybody is interested.

For Sale: Very Old Violin/ Grafted Scroll, Price Reduced - $775.00

Very old violin in excellent playing condition. I have no idea whether the label is authentic...it looks very old -"Martin Harnftainer Laute und Geigemacher in MIttenwald 1765". The scroll has been grafted onto a newer neck at some point, procedure done on old violins to bring neck length to standard dimensions.

There is a repair at the neck heel - very solid repair. Besides a short repaired crack near the lower right corner, I can't find any other cracks or repairs. The violin and varnish show lots of wear. I am not an expert on varnish, but it looks like someone french polished this to protect the varnish. There is a thin, well-done fingerboard wedge.

Set up with new soundpost, bridge, and Tonica strings, the tone is very smooth and in the middle of bright/dark. Very rich tone and easy response. Not sure exactly what I have here but a violin shop owner put a price tag of $2675 on it when I had it briefly on consignment last year.

$1,100 EDITED Now $825 EDIT/ Lowered price to $775
