For Sale: Fiddle with head - $250 USD

The label says it was made by Thir in Vienna in 17__; obviously a lie. I would guess early to middle 20th century. Strictly from the fact that I bought it from a dealer in Vienna, I would guess it may actually have been made somewhere in that area. Very high arching. It's pretty beat up, but I see no cracks or structural issues. No case, no bow.

For Sale: Interesting Old Mother of Pearl Fiddle - $300 USD

For sale is a beautiful and intersting old Mother-of-Pearl Inlay Fiddle. Completely luthiar restored and refinished, this old girl is ready for many more years of play. I want to offer this to my Fiddle Hangout friends before going off to Craigs List / EBAY.

My luthiar and my teacher both agree that it is probably late 1800's to early 1900's German. Dark and rich "fiddle" tone, especially nice on the low register, but very clear on the upper register as well. The only label indicates the restoring luthiar as Christopher Bond from Texas. The old faceplate cracks are repaired and solid, no sound post or bass bar cracks. Chestnut brown finish with light varnish. Old peg holes have been rebushed and fitted with new pegs, new sound post and bridge, new Wittner tailpiece and new Zyex strings. Recently setup by Joe Wetzel from Greenville Indiana. I was told it should be ~$1000 to $1200 at a retail fiddle shop.

Return for refund if not satisfied and email if you would like more pictures or further information.

For Sale: GIBSON model V-15 Violin, November 1940. . - $1,100 USD

GOOD GIBSON Violin, Dated November 1940. V-15 model. This violin is in very good condition, just a few of the typical various small dings, etc you usually see. Neck and sides are mostly clear maple, 2 pc back has good, broad descending flame. This model has the faux purfling. Violin is very clean, finish is shiny and in very good condition too, no musty smell. Just gone over and set up with a new bridge (good quality blank) and has good (Dominant) strings w/ silver D string and Pirastro Gold Label E string. The violin has a good voice, strong and clear, even across the strings, not too bright and not tubby sounding, has nice projection too. A good violin than needs nothing done to it, it is ready to go. Includes a rough, basic old shaped hard case. I think they only made these violins for around 5-6 years, production ended with the shift to the war effort. $1,100. Own a piece of Gibson Americana; a good, clean violin in great shape with a good sound. 48 hr approval, return must be in same condition, buyer covers all the S/I.

Good Roth Violin, 1964. Strad 1700 model. This violin is in very good condition, has a few of the typical various small dings, etc. Unusual situation that it comes with the very nice original hardshell case and also the original Roth certificate of authenticity. The Caspari pegs work well. Back and sides are well flamed with tight narrow flame, neck has good flame too, hard to capture in the picture. Violin is very clean, and the finish is shiny and in very good condition too. Has Roth label, brand, and serial number inside (matches certificate). Just gone over and set up with a new bridge (good quality blank) and new Dominant strings w/ silver D string. The violin has a good voice, good warmth, and is even across the strings with a good bottom end and a nice E too. This is a quality violin than needs nothing done to it, it is ready to go. Roth violins hold their value, this is much higher quality than those from the 70’s and 80’s. $1,250 for a quality violin in great shape with a good sound.

For Sale: MAGGINI FIDDLE - $500 USD

Maggini copy with Perfection pegs in good condition. Set up by Geoff Seitz in St. Louis (www.seitzviolins.com) who planed the finger, installed new bridge, adjusted the soundpost, and installed the Perfection pegs. Currently has Helicore heavy strings. Rectangular case included (see pictures).
The fiddle has a big sound with plenty of volume, but is not harsh. I played it with bluegrass and old time bands and it blended perfectly.

The label says Maggini 1631 which is typical of these Maggini copies, and another sticker from the Boston String instrument Company.
Please email me with any questions.
I give a 10 day full return policy.

I've got two nice lefty violins, for sale because I've moved onto viola fairly soon after starting on violin.
The Gliga below has been played probably 20 hours, and the Evolution Violin hasn't been played more than 10 min :)

The attached pic is of all 4 of my lefty violin family - the two violas are NOT for sale :)

The Gliga is a "Gems 2", e.g. their upper level student model, with an upgraded M2 pernambuco bow, plus lefty-compatible shoulder rest, Gliga supplied case, etc.. about $675 from them including tax, etc - yours for $550.

The electric Evolution is a lovely carved maple box, that is very quiet unplugged but sounds great plugged in, and has a cool frequency cut switch to tweak your sound to match the amp or the room you are playing in. It's the EV2LG pictured at http://www.evolutionviolin.com/ev2.htm SN 1013 - they haven't updated it's sold status. Comes with unused bow from EV and case.

$500 each, shipped/paypalled in ContUS, or $900 for both.

$50 off one for a cash/pickup in Los Angeles.

For Sale: Baroque violin, 1800 - a rare instrument for professional violinists - €6,500 EUR ($8,523.45 USD)

This baroque violin is a true rarity full of individual character, that was built around the turn of the 18th century. It is perfectly set up for early music practice and meets the demands of professional musicians with its convincing sound, that is both warm and bright, precise and strong. The beautiful scroll is a work of unmistakably individual style on a large, quite sturdy pegbox. Slightly asymmetrical ff-holes and a finely crafted purfling are interesting details of an appealing antique instrument. The violin is well preserved and bears a carefully done pegbox repair and some worm traces at the neck, that have no impact on its musical properties. It was completely worked over in our workshop and is offered ready to play.
