From Rattlesnake Creek practice yesterday. We are experimenting with twin fiddle and mandolin tremolo backup or twin mandolins for some of our songs. So far we've used 5 mandolins to try to balance the sound. Still working on it. Our band is getting ready for our first gig soon & we need to learn to work as a band with mics. Never had so much fun with music:))

BTW, the fiddle was made by Wayne Traynor in Kansas city about 40 years ago, set up by yours truly.

Alfred Armhaalalasa (Arto Järvelä) AEAE 2’27 Alfred Niemistö (1876-1948) from Kauhajoki was probably the one and only ﬁddler who built and played viola d’amore. The instrument he made ca. 1905 belongs nowa- days to Kauhajoki museum. At the moment musician Kreeta-Maria Kentala plays it in Kaustinen. I visited Kreeta-Maria and tried Alfred’s ’love ﬁddle’. I played it a while and recorded little soundclip to my mobile phone. At home I gave a listen to it and ﬁgured out that there is a brand new waltz there. Kreeta-Maria’s homebase in Kaustinen is called Armhaala and there Alfred’s spirit gave me this tune through his viola d’amore!
