Sound

Loud, but glass sound. Changing soundpost position, replacement bridge and strings do some help, but sill narrow dynamic range in sound. |

Setup
|
Changed the pegs required (originally not fully inserted to the holes). Recommended to use the pegs from 1/2 size violin. Reinstalled sounpost and installed new bridge and strings to improve sound quality. Changed tailpease to carbon fiber with 4 integrated fine tuners. |

Appearance

Beatiful nice flamed back and accurate top. Varnishing is modern, not antique. Painted lines around the edges, not inlaying. The main problem is fingerboard - it's black painted rosewood, not ebony; the problem is it has deep shipworm dents and while trying to polish it I got white spots. |

Reliability

It still not good even for backup. Planning to reglue new fingerboard and try to use special carving bridge with less weight to improve glass sound. |

The one week return policy is not enought to understand that it is a problem to improve this beatiful flamed back instrument, and as the shipping charges is 30% of the price there is no sense to return it and lost this money. |

Not recommended. Some cheap China instruments will be better in sound. (It was the mistake that I tryed to get good sound on this nice one peace flamed back and loud, but glass sounding violin.) |

Here's the deal. I wanted a cheap violin that I could take camping, or wherever and not worry about something happening to it. I purchased this violin off E-bay and was very surprised by the tone. It is very deep and rich sounding. |

Setup

I had to set the bridge when I received the violin (I used my own bridge and not the one that came with it) The action is a tad high, but remember that it is a $100 violin. |

Appearance

This violin has a one piece flamed maple back. Very attractive. The scroll and pegs are somewhat inexpensive looking... and when I play it, I get black marks on my fingers, so maybe the fingerboard is dyed? Purfling looks to be painted on (??). |

Finish is so-so for a mass produced instrument. Pegs are plain looking. This violin is a back up to my main violin and should work fine for that use. |

As I said earlier, I looked on E-bay for a cheaper violin to take "traveling" and not worry about it getting damaged or disappearing. I am very pleased with this violin. It came with a case, bow and rosin. Not a bad deal for around $100. The sound continues to impress me. If it were lost or stolen, I would purchase another like it (it appears that they are sold under a variety of names from the seller i.e. Rothenberg). |
