My Instruments:
My main fiddle is a hard used but wonderfully sounding D. Salzard that's about 130 years old, with a one piece back to die for, and appears handmade. My second fiddle is a very early Suzuki Nippon that looks like it was repaired by a backyard body mechanic with Bondo and epoxy, but manages to sing quite nicely. And I have an early 20th c. German Strad which is plain-plain-plain until you put the bow to her, when she turns into Cinderella at the Ball, with Dark Rich Tone. And I've got a 4th fiddle that's a german trade fiddle, a project I am currently working on, and a 5th that's a german trade, probably a Mittenwald, that needs work that I picked up recently at the flea market. I've also got a couple basket cases that came in recently. One's repairable, an amateur made fiddle from New York, but it needs the whole pegbox/scroll grafted. The other is for parts.

LOL! I blew the last note something terrible! But the rest of the song is passable, at least for me. I'm dating this so in a few months I can revisit it and have something to compare with. 8-1-08

Just a demo for a fiddle for sale. The recording isn't the best, just a simple cheezy computer microphone, so the volume level is kinda low. The playing is not wonderful since this fiddle is shrimpy and I couldn't get a shoulder rest to stay on, causing some instability and uncharacteristic left hand noise, but at least it gives you an idea of how this fiddle sounds. It's also closer to a classical setup, rather than the fiddle setup I'm used to. Given all that, the fiddle itself sounds pretty decent for what it is, at least to my ears.

Okay, so I sound less awful. Look Ma, no squeaks! Well, maybe just one or two . . . better though. This is adapted from the version the Druckenmillers have on their CD, and they attribute their version to Dave Bing.

My friend Suze and I wrote this. She's playing guitar and singing lead, I sing harmonies. I wrote the lyrics, she wrote the music. We had the studio time booked and I came down with bronchitis two days before. So I asked Bill to turn my volume down so you couldn't hear my frog croak voice. And I'm working on a fiddle part for it. This was recorded before I even took up the fiddle.
