Today is my fiddle birthday. I'm 3 years old. I can crawl, but when I try to walk, I fall. Looking forward to getting out of the diaper stage and into shortpants. Happy Birthday to me.

Hope yar having a great time with it. And don't be a stranger to those long, slow whole notes with just a touch o' vibrato, maybe a drone or two underneath, and here's why I mention it. I was at a ranch south of us recently, playing the patriarch's son's fiddle for everybody, happy with my performance of "Fisher's Hornpipe," yet I finished with this long slow drone, the A on the G string and the open D--and that's what they all liked! Who cares about my "Fisher's Hornpipe!" They wanted me to play the whole notes again. Hmmmmph. From now on, maybe, when I solo I'm just gonna solo with as few notes as possible. You want whole notes? Here you go.... Oh...sorry...forgot where I was. Happy Birthday. :O) |
