I have been playing bluegrass fiddle for quite a while, now I'm thinking its time to get a group going. As my profile pic shows, I think old grey crows is a pretty chill name,  When I say bluegrass, think about the greats like Ralph Stanley, however I want to give bluegrass a new edge. If you take a look at what has happened to Celtic music, groups like flogging molly started emerging in the late 90's and early 2000's, combining traditional celtic music with guitars and drumsets. The result was a completly new sound and breed of music.  

         In the early 1920's new recording equipment gave life to traditional bluegrass which had barley been hanging since the end of the American Civil War. Then in the 50's artist's like Jonny Cash and of course "Elvis", created something new and exciting called "country music" which is rock and roll with fiddles and steel guitars and artists with drinking problems. Don't get me wrong, I love country music. Hank William's Jr. is freakin legit. But starting in the 90's artists like Brad Pasley and Taylor Swift (barf :p) took country music and gave it a new twist. Combined with pop culture they created what we have for country music now.  We are left with duches on American Idle trying to sing with a fake twain in their voice, and teeney boppers in middle school singing about being sent down some nasty river covered in satin in a bed of roses when they die. (WTF?) Its has gotten so bad that there is almost no elements of true American music left. 

       What I want is not so much pop with fiddles in it as, Good ole timey American music with elements of rock. Bluegrass with a new twist. Traditional music with new life. True.American. Music.
