Where has the time gone?

I can't believe it's been over a year since I blogged here. Wow! It's been a busy year, fiddle-wise. Too much to name, but I've been going to lots of festivals and playing some gigs with a couple of bands. The festivals keep me hungry for learning new tunes, and the gigs help me keep my core repertoire polished. One of my bands, American Honey, recently came in 2nd in the 3rd annual Stone Mountain Blue GrassRoots Festival - there were five bands, and my fiddle teacher was in the 1st place band, so I was happy with 2nd! They had a videographer for this event who did a great job capturing the bands with sound off the sound board, so I'll be posting links to a couple of those in the near future. We've been practicing hard, and I was proud of our performance.
Which is a good thing, because we have a very exciting gig coming up! We're opening for the Freight Hoppers at a benefit for the Historic Habersham Theater in Clarkesville, GA, on April 28. I am about equally excited and terrified, but I think we'll do well if we can keep our nerves in check.
The other exciting news is that my husband is starting his 2nd year as a full time luthier. He's building mostly banjos, but he's also working on a guitar and has built some ukuleles, mountain dulcimers, and a mandolin, as well. He's not making money yet, but he's starting to get some interest in his banjos, and I'm confident that he will do well. If you're inclined, check out his work at www.deanocraft.com.
Hopefully, I'll keep this updated more often. I really enjoy FHO - I have learned a lot here and have made some real and virtual friends!

Whoa, the Freight Hoppers! Way to go! Keep in mind that they're HIGH ENERGY and that's what the crowd expects, so kick it in high gear and have at it . . .

Yeah, BJ, as one of my friends posted on Facebook, "No pressure." Ha!

Judy, if I have my navigation right I am talking to (or typing to) the correct person. Hello I am Tommy Preston seeker of fiddlers and folk that can rehair bows in North Ga. I live in Cleveland and play several instruments and am in need of a good fiddle repair/set up and a good reference for rehairing a few bows. If you are in the area perhaps you could shed some light and enlighten a fellow fiddler. Drop a line if you please. Thanks Tommy
