First Public Performance

Monday, February 13, 2012 @7:04:58 PM

I've been playing for almost 2 years now and had my first public performance with a group I put together at our church.  Myself on fiddle, two guitarists and a banjo/mandolin player.   Mostly we played folks songs with a few old time songs for an audience at church for their Feb 13 annual Valentine's party.  I must say I was nervous not just because it was my first public performance but also because the group really had not played together or practiced enough, in my view.  We played 12 songs for about a 45 minute performance.  Anyway, it worked out well in the end and the audience enjoyed it.  And I got some muc needed experience and even improvised to cover some mistakes.   I plan to go to more jams and continue on.  I was quite nervous but now I look back and I'm glad I got my feet wet.
