Hyde glue Anybody?

Well Bill and I took his attic violin down town the the local shop so the Luther could give us an estimate ( I had called ahead to make sure he was going to be in). Bill who is a story telling performer asked that before we opened the violin case would they would please act astonished like we had brought in a lost fiddle of great value. The young lady behind the counter played along and feigned surprise. After the acting was over she pointed out what I had missed, the ribs were separating in two places. The Luther couldn't break away right then but the young Lady offered to let their appraiser give it a evaluation so as to discern weather or not any work wouldn't be greater than the value of the instrument. With our spirits dampened just a little we left in anticipation of getting and E-Mail with quote latter. I hooked Bill onto the Fiddle but since he is a good musician and a quick study he will out grow the starter fiddle I gave him. I had really hoped this attic violin project wouldn't break the bank or result in his wife forbidding me and my fiddling ways in subverting her husband. If this thing is going to very costly could we re-glue the ribs ourselves? What is hyde glue anyway? It would be a shame to see this violin hung back on the wall as a decoration.
