My Instruments:
1989Gibson Mastertone "Earl Scruggs" Model, 2 Italian Violins an " Antonio Ruggieri, labeled 1721, and the inside heel of the neck it's labeled 1711. I have an old Italian, one of three ever what 3 meant, has the identifying marks of amati and/or landolphi, it's so hard to know what u have, i had an Hungarian Luthier who was familiar with the Italians and tho't more than one person was involved with the making of the instrument and too, parts such as necks, scrolls were changed and exchanged. alot of old violins have had graft jobs done on them, other than being broken, i dont know why, except to change out for some reason.. check out my pic on the profile, that is an italian scroll that has greatly interested many luthiers who have seen it, some have completely stopped what they were doing and commented on it for more than 2 hours,,
