Here's a clip from YouTube that's the trailer for Music For the Sky, a documentary about a small enclave of, um, somewhat eccentric (not that there's anything wrong with that) fiddlers in the Vermont/Massachusetts area.
It is brilliantly done and has some great music. And no, I am not fiscally connected to the perpetrators.

That looks great, Mike. I think the guy at the end is describing a song by the Skillet Lickers, but the name escapes me. That, in itself, is enough to recommend the film Thanks.

While you are there, click on the George Ainley Youtube. Old George playing Sally Johnson is is one of my favorites. It shows the proper attitude to aspire to in order to become a fiddler

Glen hit the nail right on the head about ATTITUDE.
George plays with joy...fun...and that wonderful ATTITUDE that says "I play the way I play...now let's pick something!"
A sense of "Freedom" best describes it for me.

I agree with Mike, it is an awesome film. Mike bought me my copy at Harry Smith. Thank you Mike! I love the part with the still and the part about the pickled thumb. Larry **************************************** Old Time Key Of C Fiddle Tunes http://slippery-hill.com/c/
