Won't it be interesting to see how I play when we are reunited?
It has not been this long since I took several months off back when I first started and played mandolin and strumstick for a while instead.
Any hiatus stories you'd like to share?

I think those are usually productive periods, they give your mind a chance to develop ideas without those pesky, clumsy fingers getting in the way.
It'll be fun to play again, that's for sure.

Yeah, in the other direction. I played banjo for a while then moved to fiddle. Two years later, I picked up my banjo today for fun and guess what...I lost just about everything. The pickin hand could barely do a roll, but still had a little bum ditty. The left hand could still find chords though. I bumbled through a little Mountain Dew and White House Blues then put it back. There...that's enough for another couple years. Poor, sixteen pound banjo.

I just got back to my fiddle after a 4 week unplanned hiatus when my right (bowing) thumb kinda-sorta got in the way of the table saw blade. Gawd, that was ugly. I was alone so I didn't go to the emergency room as my wife so "gently" suggested when she came up to the cottage the next day. But I thought paper towels and electrical tape was a great idea. It's healing OK and I did start fiddling again the beginning of the week. It's slow going as I haven't any feeling yet. But it's all good!
