Does anyone know where I can download this collection? I love Hammons tunes but I've never actually heard him the play them because the recordings are no where to be found. Any help?

I think I looked around to see if I could purchase mp3s online but had no luck. I bought the CD from a local music store (for much less than it seems to be on Amazon). I have Volume I and it's wonderful. One of these days I'm going to splurge on Volume II.

I really want to hear his Sugar in the Gourd. You're tempting me by posting that link!

They're available on Amazon.com and from WVU press. Couldn't find anything downloadable, but you can order the CDs.

In a conversation with a small label owner he revealed that the technology for providing downloads was expensive and unless you were going to do a considerable volume it would not pay. I would recommend buying the CDs directly from the WVU Press. You will learn a lot from the extensive liner notes and support a worthy effort to make this music available. It might make sense to buy the cheapest soap powder but making an investment in music is just that, an investment. Buy the CDs, they are great.

Please follow Rob Bob's suggestion that you buy the cds. They're great. Together the volumes conain thirty-two tunes. The liner notes are superb--fiddlers might especially likeAlan Jabbour's tune notes for Volume One as well as his transcriptions of "Fine Times at Our House" and "Sandy Boys.".
