My post wasn't a criticism but a question, because I want to put a couple of things on there and don't have any equipment... A good friend of mine is a great twin fiddler and I'd like to post a couple of Waltzes before one of us croaks. Is there some way I can just put it on this site and not YouTube? You can see I'm not your New Age Technophile!!!!! Thanks for any input I can get..... Eric Sprado

Is it something you'll want to do here in the area? I can borrow my son's recorder and be your 'videographer' . Give me a call. I'll film, you teach me a tune?

Eric - Believe it or not, all of the videos on my homepage were taken by my friend Sharon with her iPhone. It's not professional quality, but perfectly adequate, I think. Of course, an iPhone is not cheap, but if you or someone you know already has one, the price is right. It is also unbelievably easy to upload a video from an iPhone to Youtube.

Another option may be a digital camera that you already own. I know my Canon point-and-shoot camera has video capability, but I haven't tried it, so I can't vouch for the quality or ease of use. But....if you already own one, it's worth a try before you invest in something else.

I will also mention that another friend has a Flip video recorder, and I was not impressed. I don't know whether there are some quality adjustments that can be made, but the sound quality was poor on the videos that I saw.

Good luck! Let us know when you get something posted!

Eric, bet you get lots of expert answers. A bing search gave some instructions for webcam videos and on the youtube.com lower left on the menu, the Help probably has your answers. Media and posting. Good luck. I want to know how also. Thanks, Don

Using webcam to record video : Learn More - YouTube Help
To record a video directly into YouTube, you'll need to have: A YouTube account ... information about the video by going to the "My Videos" page (youtube.com/my_videos).

I think John Gent the gentelman's offer is very good unless you wanna invest in some sort of recording device and record more than just this once.

I bought a digital camera for my wife that also does video. The quality is impressive. It's a Lumix and cost less than $300. There's a video I posted in the archives using this camera. You can also use the same effects as still photos, like sepia toning, B&W, widescreen, etc. The bigger the SD card, the longer the videos can be.

Gentleman John: Thanks for your kind offer. When things settle down here a bit I'll yell for help. I was thinking of doing some twin fiddling with Linda D. and putting it on here?? Soon my friend, Eric

Communicate with janepaints and ask her what she's using. It was very inexpensive, extremely easy to use, in fact I'd call it idiot-proof, uses a common memory (sd cards) and the quality was amazing for the price. I used it to record the Ether Frolic Mob session she posted.

I'm in! Happy to help, and happy to hopefully learn some. Maybe even show off some ... especially since the last time we played together.

If you have a computer you can get a webcam that plugs into it. I have the logitech pro 9000 and use it for my you tube videos. The you tube softwear comes with the webcam so one click sends you to youtube and another click uploads it. NEAT
