Allen Sisson was born August 31, 1873 in Fannin County, GA but spent a good many years in Ducktown, TN.
By age twelve, he was regarded as the best fiddler in North Georgia. In 1921, Sisson was named the Tennessee State Fiddle Champion. He is one of the oldest recorded old time fiddlers in America. In February 1925, Allen Sisson was invited to the Edison studios in East Orange, NJ, to record ten tunes.
Here I play three of his tunes. Bosco

Oh yeah Bosco, I have met a fellow who knows his family and recorded with his old fiddle. I see an article coming on. He has some cool tunes like Rocky Road to Dublin (oh yeah another one) . He recorded Katy Hill in 1925 and was a real fine fiddler. You do all right with his tunes but you must admit, he had something special.

Very nice. I love Allan's fiddling. Here's a link for everyone to an album of his recordings available for download

I like how his "Katy Hill" sounds a lot like Emmett Lundy's "Piney Woods Gal"
