I barely know who's playing, but did you see the commercial with the rodent beaver fiddling Soldier's Joy?!

Maybe he'll be the half-time show next year. That was WAY BETTER than The WHO. IMHO

Pretty bad when a beaver can out play me
Tennessee Tom - Posted - 02/07/2010: 17:56:40

woodwiz - Posted - 02/07/2010: 18:35:39
Pretty good fiddler, rodent or no.
So, did somebody win, or what?
wormbower - Posted - 02/07/2010: 18:39:18

Hahahaha i doubt the advertisers knew that song is all about getting high.. i would have thought a john henry would have been more appropriate for a song to promote working ;)

Well, I'm glad they played the game, at least. There had been a lot of talk about a "negotiated settlement"

That was quick! As soon as that ad came on, every looked at me because I've been telling them all about my new fiddle in the family.
whigski - Posted - 02/07/2010: 21:33:54
I thought of all you FH folks when I saw that advertisement. I said, yep that's my favorite!

I dunno. Superbowl VXIMMXVIILV where Cain clunked Abel's noggin cause Pa liked Abel best still takes the cake for good ol' rugged noggin-clunking. Course, Cain's career was all downhill after that. Wound up playing semi-pro ball in the East Eden beer & pretzels league. They said he hadda bad attitude. Maybe it was the 'roids.
brya31 - Posted - 02/08/2010: 02:49:42
I think the beaver was using the TUF grip too.

Didn't Bob Wills have a tune called Big Beaver?
Play Happy

Hockey.....HOCKEY ???....We don needs no stinkin HOCKEY,,,,,, Jane u dun been smokin them "Lucky Strikes" again ? 4 beat-up chewable VSO's were offered in tha "negotiated settlement", but tha beaver chose tha blue ribbon. :-).
harwilli55 - Posted - 02/08/2010: 09:44:28
OK, who is going to identify the real fiddler behind the groundhog ?
jtallant - Posted - 02/08/2010: 12:39:28
Check out the clip again.
The two best parts I noticed were: 1) the beaver was keeping perfect time by tapping his TAIL not his foot 2) when he was playing in the subway, he had his case open infront of him to accept tips!
What a hoot!!
Skunkhound - Posted - 02/08/2010: 17:05:56
I was in a bar, where I could just barely hear the tune, but I loved it anyway. Two fiddling commercials just a few months apart. Are we becoming so strong in numbers that were a target audience?
fiddlepogo - Posted - 02/08/2010: 22:21:59
Probably the most exposure (to the general public) the fiddle tune "Soldier's Joy" has gotten in a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time!!!
Whatcha think??? Are we gonna be getting requests now for the "Fiddling Monster Beaver Tune"????
At least it'll be a whole lot easier than fielding requests for OBS!!!
I don't know who the fiddler is, but I'm guessing a contest fiddler trying to sound Old Timey. They CAN do it if they want to.... Hmmmm.... on the other hand... you know, if it wasn't him, he might know- Tom Sauber has done walk-on musician roles in movies before. If it wasn't him he might know who it was, or be able to find out.

Byron Berline is my guess, if it was an LA production.
